Getting on Board Mentally for Green Jobs

If you told me ten years ago that I would trade my nice corporate job for a small non-profit agency, I would have thought you to be joking. My life took a series of turns that would lead me to becoming director of human resources. I had a lot to learn about green jobs and meeting the needs of the areas being served.

While it was humbling to learn that there were so many things I did in my everyday life to contradict the objective that I now stood for. Then again, I had to accept that unemployment was even more humbling as the company I used to work for went under.

Even today, I still have some moments when my coattail has been pulled but I enjoy my job and helping others become employed. I’ve even run into former colleagues and they have said it’s a learning experience as well.

When I started my e-commerce business, I figured that my program would be unique enough to stand out amongst the competition. I even had a pretty aggressive marketing campaign but what I did not have was a reliable host. This forced me to check out green web hosting for my business.

At first, my priority was being able to submit and communicate as efficiently as possible. And though I had a nice amount of traffic to my site, I wanted to become eligible for sponsorships and other opportunities. Then I realized from speaking with others that this was much better than ultimate packages that the major telecommunication companies promoted often. One person even discouraged me from using that one company that is known for low prices but terrible customer service.

So this has become a pretty wise investment as I’m helping to save the earth, I get fast transmissions which results in higher traffic numbers.
